I love bright cheerful colours, especially so this summer. It started when my dear hushand bought me a bright yellow handbag during our anniversary. From that day on, I bought quite a few bright coloured, shoes and nail polish ...hehe it's so nice to be surrounded by all these cheerful colours.

The Summer heat is on! I nearly died this afternoon when the thermometer registered 39 deg.c! This beautiful orange colour 'OPI - In my Back Pocket' was one of my recent purchase. It's a beautiful bright orange that I absolutely love. Most importantly this mani lasted me 3 weeks without any touch ups!

Sometime back, I bought these tools and said that I'll show you how to use them after some practise. Well, I didn't get around to trying them out until today. So that is my first attempt and it's not perfect, but thought I'll just share with you this new technique I've just picked up.


The acrylic colours used are neon blue, neon orange, neon pink, black and clear acrylic powder.


First prep your nails by filing the top surface of your nails. Push back your cuticles and remove excess oils from your nail surface. Apply 2 coats of the Protein Bond.


I'm using the reverse application method to create french acrylic nails. I've seen it being done before and it helps to create a beautiful smile line. However, this is my first attempt so it looks a bit messy.

Take a large size ball of acrylic and apply it to the top part of your nails, leaving a 'U' shape at the bottom.


Take your black acrylic and cover the bottom half of your nails. Once that's dry, apply a coat of clear acrylic on top of your black acrylic only.


Dip your impression tool into the clear acrylic powder before stamping to prevent any wet acrylic sticking onto it.


Press the impression tool firmily into the slightly dry clear acrylic.


Wait for your clear acrylic to dry, then using the neon acrylic powder, apply randomly over the stamped out shapes. To ensure that the neon colour acrylic goes into the cavity, I also use my fingers to press the colour in.

Wait for the neon colours to dry, then file off the top layer from the entire nail. You can see my index finger in the background. It's already had the excess filed away, clearly showing the remaining neon colours in the stamped out shapes.


Remove all the dust from your nails, then seal it with a gel top coat and cure under the UV lamp.


It looks a bit uneven :( But I'm happy with it being my first attempt.



The only problem I had was that some bubbles kept appearing under the clear acrylic overlay. Does anyone know how to prevent this from happening?

Oh it's summer here in Perth and we're getting the full blown heat wave this year! My parents who were staying with us the past 6 months have just 'escaped' to Singapore for Chinese New Year. Just before they left, I made this 3D acrylic Sunflower pedicure for my mom. I hope they last till Chinese New Year! 

The Summer Lace Wedding Nails I made for my friend M was finally being worn on the big day early this month! I was so excited on the actual day that I've totally forgotten to bring my camera. These photos were taken from the iPhone.

I'm so happy to create this set of nails for my friend who's getting married in 2 weeks time! Her favourite colour is orange and her summer wedding will have lots of orange tones throughout all the decorations and flowers.

Without even seeing what type of orange she's chosen, I went ahead and bought this nail polish from The Face Shop.



I was shocked when she handed me the wedding invite, because the orange colour from the invite is nearly a perfect match to the nail polish colour! Most importantly, the bride loves this colour.


We've decided on a gorgeous romantic lace nail design. It's also a great opportunity for me to revisit applying fabric lace onto nails. I think it looks a lot better this time compared to my previous attempt - See: Would You Wear Lace on Your Nails? Due to the bride's work, she's unable to have long nails. We've decided on a full cover fake nail this time as she can remove them easily herself and possibly reuse them again when she goes back to Japan for the second ceremony!


I love this lace look so much that I'm already planning to do a set for myself with black lace and a Tiffany blue nail polish!

I've bought these 3D soft cane fruit wheel for ages but can't think of any interesting way to wear them.


Since the weather is now starting to get warmer, I thought of wearing something bright and sunny. I've never tried wearing so many colours before and was a bit embaressed wearing this out! What do you guys think?



Say Cheese by Mode Cosmetics. This one is a regular pharmacy purchase. It only cost me $2.50 but I was quite surprised with the colour and ease of application. Only complain is that the brush itself it a little bit too long.
